Most of us indulge in beach-combing when we have the chance. Some of the driftwood is awesome.
Betty is a guest from Alberta. She just picked some of the salmon berries from the bush to her right. They look like salmon-coloured raspberries, with a pleasant, rather bland taste. No good for jam making, I'm told. They just turn to mush. A lot I know..

Turn left, you say? Good choice! After passing about ten acreages we end up at Marine Bay, also known as "Casey Cove". A nice place to take the dog for a swim. Last week I found a dolphin skull and a real nice piece of driftwood here. It 'asked' to become a bald eagle and it turned out quite nice, thank you.
Oftentimes I see a painter at work here. Name is Ronnie. He does very good whales. You'll see one on every house, a Dodge Cove trademark, sort of. A real friendly gentleman, Ron is, a bit on the reclusive side. Heart of gold. Wonder where he is today? Gone fishing!

Nice little place to do some sketching or build a beach fire at night.
If we turn left here and follow the beach all the way around Marine Bay, we end up near the 'Doctor's House'. In considerably better condition than the Hospital, but equally irreparable. A shame, isn't it, the way it has become dilapidated. But that's life.
Now it's time to return to the starting point, for it's soon going be dark. The best way back is the trail through the woods. This trail is maintained with steadfast care by one of the residents here. Wonderful job she does of it and it takes an awful lot of work. It's about a twenty-five minute walk back to the 'welcome' sign.
Thank you for coming with me on this little jaunt. I hope you enjoyed it too. There's lots more to explore here, but that's for another day if it's okay with you. All this fresh air….I'm about ready for a little siesta.
Hope to see you later!
