| So,
here you are in Dodge Cove...
Whether
you come from the nearby city of Prince Rupert or from much farther
afield, the tiny island community of Dodge Cove bids you a hearty
welcome. I think you'll enjoy it here. We're not about mass production,
but then, that is part of the charm of the place isn't it?
Dodge Cove is a busy kind of place, though, what with people crossing
the waters of Prince Rupert Harbour to go to town to get supplies
or go to work. Two or three boats can usually be spotted, always
under someone's watchful eye, for in these waters a small mishap
can quickly turn into something serious.
There's
a sign on the dock which says: "livestock at large, keep your
dog on the leash, please". This refers not to cattle or horses
(it's too rugged here and the ground too wet for their hooves),
but to ducks, geese, pheasants and the like. But, to tell you the
truth, I haven't seen a leashed dog yet and the geese and many of
the pheasants were lost to wolves, not to the dogs, who are as friendly
as the people here.
Thank you for stopping by. |
